Programmatically changing monitor function

Hi,

I'd like to programmatically change a monitor function from Monitor to Modect and back again. My application is to start detection, collect events, stop detection and do my processing.

I realize I could simply bring up and down zone minder, but that seems pretty bulky.

Basically, I'd like to have a program that pushes the right things like in the web page, but I don't know where to start looking.
