I dont know if this is the best place to make this question, i have checked around and haven't been able to get to a final conclusion.
I have a NAS-LinkStation™ Pro Duo- where I want to store the footage from Zoneminder running on a Pi to start with maybe chunk it up to something more powerfull, and cheap Off-The-Shelve IPcams different model different manufacturers.
Most stuff I found out there was more related to installing Zoneminder on the NAS which is something I might consider for future projects but if id was to go that router I would purchase something that I know it going to work or at least get support. Maybe my queries weren't good enough.
Nevertheless I found some clues to it's feasibility, found somewhere I think in Zoneminders documentationhttp://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... Hard_Drive
According to this Id be able to do what I'm trying to achieve, just hardware restrictions, my next question was, then whas is good enough hardware, didn't find any information that was specific enough on this points, so it leaves me with buy hardware and test it.Note this new partition can be a local drive, raid partition, lvm/md device, external NAS, SAN, NFS share or SMB share. The only condition is that the I/O throughput should be up to handling what Zoneminder will throw at it. For that speed reason, some favour non-journalled filesystems and accept the extra risk of data protection
I wish i could spend more money.
Thanks,
Kind regards,
Marco.
