Guidance with chinese crap

Post by kcallis »

Yes, I have read about requesting help on Chinese cameras, but I am at wits end on these cameras. The cameras are the Sinocam 4 ch Kit. I would have displayed the URL, but someone thought it would be a good idea to limit that ability. I bought these because they are based around the Onvif BQ-N05W type of cameras, as a matter of fact the NVR even says Onvif. The first problem that I have run into is the need for ActiveX... An according to what I have read, that could be a major issue. The second issue that I have is that I have access the cameras the first time, setup the network information and then when I go to reboot, I can no longer access the cameras. I have tried to do direct wired and I don't even want to talk about the misadventures with wireless.

First off, does anyone know how to get the cameras back to factory defaults? There is no reset button on the camera, and so two of my cameras are no accessible. Needless to say, I contacted the sellers, but have yet to receive a response. Also, if someone can point me to some decent cameras that will allow for me to make use of them with zoneminder, I would be greatly appreciative.

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but when you say the cameras aren't accessible, do you mean you can't login to them or you can't find them on the network?

A few other things occurred to me to mention to you.

1. Have you tried accessing the camera stream from VLC? I find that to me a good starting point.

2. Regarding ActiveX, that's probably just necessary for browser based access.

3. Onvif is an organization that tries to establish IP cam standards, not a brand. The camera you referenced is supposedly a BQ Tech camera, but I couldn't find it.
