Zone listed in the events table

Post by stzaske »

I have some very important zones, and I'd like a way to sort out the events that happen in those zones quickly. I'd prefer you replace the "cause" column" with a column labled "zone"

So I can understand a bit more about requirements can you explain a little more about what you mean by 'important zones' and what you are trying to achieve?

My camera looks down the path to my house...and out onto a street. Lots of cars drive by my house so I end up with a ton of events during a day (well I did until my recent problems of NO events being recorded...but I'm hoping to solve that problem). Anyway, within the frame, I have 9 different zones, 7 zones for the street, one for my driveway and one for my walkway. I'd like to be able to quickly sort the events that show motion on my walkway or driveway. In those events it is almost always someone walking up to my door or driveway. If you, in my events list listed the name of the zone that fired, then I could jump right to the events that occured in my "driveway". I think that would be a great feature. As it stands now, I have to look through almost a thousand cars driving past my house before I see one person open my gate and enter my yard. I end up wasting a LOT of time viewing car drive bys. If you implemented this feature you'd save me a LOT of time.

I think the best solution to this would be to allow zones to insert a comment in the cause field of any motion generated events. That way you can search the cause field for your zones and it would require minimal change elsewhere in the sytsem. I'm a bit loath to add yet another field to events but will add this to the pending enhancements list.
