RE: Web Interface startup really slow
RE: Web Interface startup really slow
I have the following problem: when I start ZoneMinder via the web interface, I get the login screen and login. Then the "logging in" screen appears, and then nothing happens. I'm not sure if the next page is just really slow, or not loading at all.
I'm using Red Hat 9 (with multi-threading support) on a P4 2.4 Ghz multi-threading with 512MB RAM and 80 GB HDD. My Apache and MySQL work properly otherwise.
Any thanks would be apreciated.
Thanks for the great product

Re: Web Interface startup really slow
Hi Josh,
Have you tried running in non-authenticated mode? If not, try that and see what you get.
To change to non-authenticated mode without the web interface type
perl zmconfig.pl ZM_OPT_USE_AUTH
Then to be on the safe side restart ZM

Thanks Phil.
just a small (probably silly) question, how do I run/restart ZM outside of the web inerface?
Thanks again

Re: Web Interface startup really slow
If you have installed the 'zm' script to the /etc/init.d directory and added it to the startup scripts then
service zm start (or stop or restart)
otherwise
zmpkg.pl start (or stop etc)
You may need to prepend the path ito zmpkg.pl if it's not found automatically

Re: Web Interface startup really slow
I've done all you've suggested, and am still having problems. When I point my browser to index.php, the connection request takes an extremely long time; I'm not even sure that the request is serviced at all. My Apache and MySQL are working properly.
What else would you suggest? Possible a re-install?
Again, many thanks

Re: Web Interface startup really slow
You should probably be able to just 'cd' to the zm web directory and run index.php from the command line as
php index.php
Check to see if that takes as long or not. If it comes back fairly quickly then I would think that it has something to do with the web environment. If it takes a long time then possibly there is a problem with something else.

Re: Web Interface startup really slow
Tried the command prompt, and have waited about 5 mins or so, and nothing's happened. After my install, it was running, but at some point started to get slower, and then just stopped...
Thanks

Re: Web Interface startup really slow
Have you tried running myisamcheck or another DB check utility to make sure your database is ok? Also make sure that you haven't run out of disk space and/or memory.
You mention you are on RH9, but I'm not sure which version of ZM you have? There are problems with apache on RH9 with it leaking memory so see it you got caught by that.
