I'm having issues with the event viewer in that it doesn't present the entire event when selected and none of the controls from the event viewer do anything. The event viewer is opened and it appears that a couple of frames are shown before action ceases. Here is what I see in the log when I select an event for viewing:
2015-09-10 11:53:28.873526 web_js 32707 ERR getCmdResponse stream error: Timed out waiting for msg /var/run/zm/zms-832385s.sock - checkStreamForErrors() ?view=event

I'm able to watch the live feed with no issues and I'm able to examine each frame of an event as far as I can tell.
It has taken me about a week to get to this point after installing ppa:iconnor/zoneminder 1.28.1-trusty-1 on Mythbuntu 14.04.
I have a single camera system with 2048x1536 resolution being feed at 6 fps. I switched from Libvlc to Ffmpeg at some point to reduce the load on my computer. I thought that the event viewer was working previously when I was using Libvlc but being new to ZoneMinder and having tried so many things now everything in my head seems to kind of blur together.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
While I'm waiting on responses I'll switch back to Libvlc and see if it works.
Event Viewer Not Working
Re: Event Viewer Not Working
Did you use this install procedure:
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... e_easy_way
It is possible that your GUI is eating up RAM that ZM could use. Ubuntu and variants use up to half of the RAM for RAM disk. That means with the resolution you are using on your camera you could be running out of memory.

Re: Event Viewer Not Working
Yes, I followed that install procedure although I did not follow it the first time. Maybe a configuration file is not as expected.
The computer running ZoneMinder is headless so there shouldn't be any GUI impact although it is running the MythTV backend which is somewhat CPU and memory intensive.
I have noticed that the computer I'm using as the GUI has locked up a couple of times now. I was assuming that it was an Ubuntu 15.04 issue since I just upgraded to it a month ago but I think it has only happened since installing ZoneMinder.
I tried Libvlc and the behavior was the same although the load almost doubled on my computer. There was one benefit in that the Source showed up in the console again but I think that issue was recently addressed in a more recent version of ZoneMinder.
I'll try reducing the resolution to 1280x720 (lowest) to see if it has any affect.
I'm guessing my next step would be to uninstall ZoneMinder again and figure out how to purge everything prior to reinstalling.
