Not getting images from NC1000
Not getting images from NC1000
I have tried to search the forums, troubleshooting and FAQ and have not found an answer as far as I can tell but do have a feeling that this has probably been encountered before so please forgive me if it's a stupid question.
I have just installed zoneminder and have an NC1000 network camera the image of which I can see in a browser pointed at:
http://10.10.10.9/Jpeg/CamImg.jpg
When I add this as a source in the ZM web interface it shows up in red and /var/log/zm/zmdc.log fills with errors when I click the "save button". If I try to open the zone window it shows up with a blank space rather than an image. The following link gives a screenshot of what I hope are the relevant parts of the web interface and following that is the log output.

Wanton vandalism is the one unjustifiable crime. If there were to be capital punishment for anything it should be that.
The camera is colour so I have selected 24-bit colour since it was that or 8-bit greyscale, and width and height are shown as 604px and 480px respectively for both the image given by the camera and the blank space in the ZM interface.
Incidentally, if I was to point ZM at a random static image as a source instead of one from a camera should it accept that? It doesn't, gives the same results as the camera.

I not sure if you missunderstood me or visa/vera with your explenation.
So I'll break down a little more just in case (I'd hate for something simple to get passed up before really changing something more complex).
Open the bowser and put in the URL for the camera so that you can see the image.
Right click on the picture and select propertys. The image size here must be the settings for ZM.
So all of ZM setting have to match exactly what the camera is putting out or it will not work.
Sorry if we are on the same page but need to be sure before we do something that could make things worse if they were not broke to beginwith

That's OK, right clicking on the image (the one I can see on the camera) and choosing properties gives me: width: 640px, height: 480px. I have set those as the capture width and capture height in the source tab of ZM's monitor dialogue. The image is colour (though it doesn't specify how many bits) and so I have selected 24 bit colour as the "remote image colours" in the aforementioned dialogue.

Cordel, I added your camera, interestingly zmc -m 2 then seemed to stop without ever having started according to the log (below). Both function and source showed up in orange in the web interface but opening the zone window showed a blank space rather than a picture again.

Hmm, that's interesting.
After stopping and restarting ZM, with just Cordel's camera configured, /var/log/messages showed only:

zmdc.log gave:

and other log files appeared in /var/log/zm/. However, there was still no image visible in the window that appears when the zones column is clicked. I then set up my own camera (the NC1000) whereupon /var/log/messages declared:
