Ubuntu 14.04 did a software update, and unknown to me to took me to 1.29 from 1.28, which broke it.
So I redid the upgrade following the EASY WAY.
This brought is back but all my cameras, settings etc are GONE!
Including other user info name/pw
How (or can I) restore these?
Also tried to restore FLAT display, and set it to XML and now when I bring up ZM on browser it goes to a XML page.
How do I restore back to normal?
Thanks DAN
upgrade to 1.29 problem ---all my cameras are gone
Re: upgrade to 1.29 problem ---all my cameras are gone
I got my proper display back, some weirdness, then realized that 1.29 does not support localhost?
Remote login and IP address /zm works fine
still looking for my cameras though.....

Re: upgrade to 1.29 problem ---all my cameras are gone
Did you follow the upgrade instructions in the WIKI?
Re: upgrade to 1.29 problem ---all my cameras are gone
I have the same problem.
I made the mistake of doing an "apt-get upgrade" tonight, now my system is trashed.
I am apparently on 1.29, but no live video on any cameras.
Totally down here. What wiki? I see nothing on this topic.

OK so firstly PPA's will update when a new version is available, I think apt-mark hold can stop that.
Danzi,
Interested in how you lost camera settings as none of the upgrade processes would touch that data. Maybe if you ran zm_create.sql again you would wipe everything. Especially when the upgrade wiki makes no mention of the Easy Way, so I suspect you followed fresh install guide.

If you have a database backup you may be able to reconstruct it, but might have to roll back to 1.28.1 and restore it.
Basildane,
Change from PPA 1.28.1 to 1.29. This is most likely to be causing loss of video streaming it is in the readme I believe. If you look in logs you will probably have some socket errors, it is the number 1 issue people have.
## Note: When Zoneminder web site is running it may be necessary to set Options/Paths/PATH_ZMS to "/zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms" or according to chosen web site configuration.
