I am definitely a Linux novice!
Have tried several times to install ZM 1.29 on a Mint17 laptop with no prevail.
Never able to install the iConner compilation.
Then, during days of research noticed that the Mint17 is a Desktop version, not serer.
But, then I read that Ubuntu desktop can act like a server.
So, my real question is:
Should ZM 1.29 be able to be installed on Mint17 Cinnamon, or does it need a server edition of Ubuntu?

Zoneminder and Ubuntu Server?
Re: Zoneminder and Ubuntu Server?
Yes, it has been done many times!
See: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ubuntu#Guid ... tu_Desktop
There is also a pre-configured Lubuntu version that has Zoneminder installed.

TY VM for your reply - I have read the link you supplied about a doen of times but am not able to have iConner installed.
Are you saying that the SERVER compilation CAN be isntalled on a Desktop Ubuntu? Again, I have Mint17 Cinnamon,. I have no problem changing to Ubuntu to see if that makes a difference, but would love to know if the Desktop version can be used to install Server ZM.

Re: Zoneminder and Ubuntu Server?
Yes, but you need to install LAMP first. This is best done by installing tasksel to install LAMP.
Re: Zoneminder and Ubuntu Server?
TY bbunch,
I am going to try this again on a different Laptop also with Mint 17. If that doesn't work I will try a plain 14.04 Ubuntu.
Again, TY for your help,
Rainer
