Likely your archives were deleted by a filter. They are gone, sorry to say.

Check your filters that purge events and make sure Archive Status equal to Unarchived Only is one of the parameters.

Restored? Your archives can possibly be recovered from the backups you took. You ... did take backups? If not, then sorry, the data wasn't needed anyway. :(

What happened? Well, check also that you didn't, for any reason, accidentally unmount or move the disk directory holding the events files, which could have caused Zoneminder's audit process to see that all the files had "gone", and therefore wiped the database to match.

On remounting the files, the audit process would THEN have spotted a load of redundant files, which are no longer in the EMPTY database, and deleted them.

Question for @bbunge -- would a filter (or my scenario above) cause "the events count reset back to #1" symptom ... I know no matter how many events I've deleted by filter, the count is STILL going up.

Could something else have trashed the MySQL database? How do you reset the event counter?
