I need help to get my Hikvision DS-2CD2335-I running, I'm running ZoneMinder v1.29.
Please advise on source type, source path and remote methode setting that I should use the settings window.
I've tried already many different variants following some posts but was not successful till now.
You were not very descriptive on how you try to connect, so it is difficult to answer. If you know RTSP link to your camera, check another thread where I give hints on how to connect. It should work on any camera with RTSP capabilities.
Source type: FFmpeg and libvlc
Source path: rtsp://admin:PW@IP:554/Streaming/Channels/1?transportmode=unicast&profile=Profile_1
-> question how do I get the right link here (especially the ending)? on the GUI from my camera I was not able to find this link
Remote methode: RTP/Unicast and RTP/RTSP
I guess these are the main parameters I need to take care in order to see some picture/video.
Do I need a plug-in for my browser to get anything displayed - currently always a small black "x" is displayed.
If you see an "x" only it means that the method you selected is not working under your browser. I believe that by default Zoneminder uses swf, which requires flash, not all browsers support that and it is the worst crap ever (flash I mean). By my experiments I propose to change to "avi". Works on anything that I can see - Linux, Android and Windows browsers. You need to change MPEG_LIVE_FORMAT and MPEG_REPLAY_FORMAT under "Images" in options for Zoneminder and then restart.
Well, if you have a problem with the link to stream, you should probably check manual of the camera or ask on their forum/support if they have it. Each camera is different and it is difficult to help.
Please also check under VLC if you get any video from those links, if not then this is a camera issue, if you do have feed then it is Zoneminder issue (may be configuration, may be something with ffmpeg, there may be quite a few causes, logs may help with this).
If it works with VLC, if you configure it as I indicated in my other thread (pay attention to resolution), plus try to change options I mentioned it should work, unless you have something else messed up in Zoneminder (check log for errors/warnings). For mentioned options you can use things like: avi, mpeg (or mpg do not remember which), flv, swf, mov and I think a few other, you need to google to find out exactly. If all is working you should get something on at least one browser (check a few of them, to be sure: chrome, firefox, ie and other), if you get nothing on all you need to find what other cause there can be.
