Greetings,
My first post and I've read a bit around this issue but can't seem to find a solid answer to it so figured I would ask. My apologies if it has been addressed and I overlooked.
Running ZM 1.30 on Lubuntu 15.10. Build works as expected. Used the easy Wiki guide on building it and everything works as expected with the exception of one minor issue.
Sometimes I leave the montage running on a browser where I have script refreshing the web page every 15 minutes. It seems that it will run fine this way for sometimes a day or more, but after a random interval I will start getting socket sendto errors which eventually causes ZM to stop. Is my running and refreshing in a browser causing these errors? I've read that there is an issue with browsers at times, and I've attempted clearing cookies, etc... and the problem seems to persist. If I don't leave the montage running, I don't have the issue. I had the same issue with ZM 1.29 as well and is the only issue I have with it.
Is there any workaround to avoid this altogether, or will repetitive refreshing in a browser always cause this type of behavior?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Socket sendto error...maybe
Re: Socket sendto error...maybe
I have lived with this same "issue" for quite a while. I have 3 to 5 users with the Montage view running at any given time. Refreshing the browser seems to help ( I use Firefox with an add-on called Refresh Every). I also have Apache scheduled to do a restart late in the afternoon after the work force has gone home. This resets the socket_sendto errors till the next morning. I just live with them...

Re: Socket sendto error...maybe
Thanks for the feedback. Sort of figured this is what I would have to get used to as well. The positive is that since I'm using mine for home surveillance, I don't need to use the Montage when I'm away, which seems to be the root of the socket sendto errors.
Re: Socket sendto error...maybe
that is interesting with the Montage view causing the socket_sendto error. So I just tested a system running a totally green Log by just selecting a Montage view with 3 IP cams as a testing platform. First error of the day is the :
I will give it a look to see if I can find the reason. While I have several ZM testing systems running in various forms on Puppy Linux Tahr 6.0.5 (Ubuntu Trusty) OS based machines. All over 10 years old with 1 to 4 gigs of RAM, I can risk imploding a system trying to track down and understand better the socket_sendto error.
Code: Select all
socket_sendto( /var/run/zm/zms-415848s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory

First, thank you all for your help! Forums like this always give me a little more faith in humanity!
Second, this is a strange error indeed. What bothers me the most is there is no pattern to it, that I've found anyway. Sometimes I can leave montage running for several weeks refreshing every 15 minutes, and no errors. Sometimes I've started it and it happened and killed ZM in a matter of hours. Just no rhyme or reason to it that I've found.
Another note as I had not mentioned before, not that it's probably relevant. I have this running on a 10+ year old system as well. P4 3.4Ghz with 4GB RAM. Almost can't believe I used to play WoW on that thing
