Foscam FI8908W configuration

Post by yogui »

Dear all,

I just installed ZoneMinder 1.30 (viewtopic.php?f=36&t=25327) and since then I'm still trying to add 2 cameras. I undo those changes just in case they are not working, and leave the configuration untouched as it was just installed.

One of them, is Foscam FI8908W I bought many years ago. It claims:
Device Firmware Version 11.14.1.46
Device Embeded Web UI Version 2.4.8.12
The other one is a clone of that one, I will fight for that once I have one of them working, because at this point i don't know if it's a camera problem, a configuration problem or the system that is failing somewhere.

So I followed and tried many settings, but what I think may be the good one, was following this:
https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Foscam
Foscam FI8908W IP Camera with PT (no Z) Working in ZM 1.24.2
General
Name: x
Source Type: Remote
Function: Modect (up to you though)
Enabled: Tick
Maximum FPS: Empty (I had some issues with it lagging when I used values here)
Alarm Maximum FPS: Empty
Source
Remote Protocol: HTTP
Remote Method: Simple
Remote Host Name: x.x.x.x (The IP of the camera)
Remote Host Port: 80
Remote Host Path: /videostream.cgi?user=admin&pwd= (assuming you have an admin user on the cam with no password)
Remote Image Colours: 24 bit colour
Capture Width: 320 (You could use 640 x 480, I found 320 to be better)
Capture Height: 240
I also tried this configuration from an FI8910W (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25183), and many other combinations of configuration.

I have deleted all the test and leaving just one, configurated as shown before. The log:

Code: Select all

2016-10-25 16:13:45.490888	zmc_m9 7219	ERR	Held buffer is undersized for requested buffer	zm_image.cpp	339
2016-10-25 16:13:45.379568	zmc_m9 7219	ERR	Unable to decode jpeg	zm_remote_camera_http.cpp	1151
2016-10-25 16:13:45.312775	zmc_m9 7219	ERR	Failed requesting writeable buffer for reading JPEG image.	zm_image.cpp	1059
I also tried this configuration from an FI8910W (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25183), and many other combinations of configuration.

Also tried installing "iSpy: Open Source Camera Security Software" (http://www.ispyconnect.com/) and with the installation wizard, shows me a way to set up:

Code: Select all

FFMPEG
http://admin:admin/192.168.1.19:8080/videostream.asf
And from there, I see image even I'm able to control and move the camera.

Furthermore with VLC and the following chain, I can see the cam.
http://admin:admin@192.168.1.19:8080/vi ... &pwd=admin

What am I missing?

Besides all of these, I bought an ESCAM QD300WIFI which for the price (38€) seems good and I can see it's compatible. https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Escam Will see when it arrives :)
I know it's not one of those fancy AXIS cams, but I just one this system for the garage and to play a bit with it because I think it's an interesting system.

Many thanks, have a nice day!

When watching in vlc use media info to confirm resolution settings of the stream it is receiving and make sure you use those in zm monitor setup.
