Foscam C1 not working with zoneminder

Hi Support,


I have foscam C1 Camera bit its not working with zoneminder

i have configured all the settings on zone minder but still its not worked

i have purchased 6 foscam c1 camers

can anyone help me to sort out this issue

You need to provide more details beyond 'it doesn't work'

1) Post screenshots of how you configured it (make sure your URLs are configured as per http://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=foscam)

2) Post ZM logs so we understand what is going on

You can also try libvlc and change the resolution but keep the ratio the same. Also use your user:password and IP address

The wrong resolution can cause the feed to fail in ZM. The Foscam documentation says the resolution for the C1 is 720P(1280x720),VGA(640x480),VGA(640x360),QVGA(320x240),QVGA(320x180). If my recommendation does not work try another...

I have used above setting and its now working fine with zoneminder version 1.28.1.

I`m also trying to use a Foscam C1 using ZoneMinder 1.30 but when there is motion detected the recording is not 100% clean. It looks like the images are overlapping each other

Your camera is not configured ideally so let's fix those first:

1) Set your target colorspace to 32bit for a performance boost
2) You are showing values of 2 and 5 in the MAX FPS and Alarm MAX FPS fields. Did you see the red warning pop up when you did this? Click the "?", read the help text, and then change those values as they are likely incorrect and will cause problems with the stream.
3) Change your source type from Remote -> ffmpeg. Always use ffmpeg unless you run into issues

After you make those changes, if corruption still occurs only when you see movement, then that means you need to increase the bitrate in the camera's web portal.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, please tell us the frame rate set in the camera

We need more information than "no video" or just a couple of lines from the log to troubleshoot this. Please turn on Debug level 4 and show a full page of log entries. I have yet to see a log file with too much information. Please describe the hardware you are running on. All modern Intel/AMD cpus should get a performance boost with 32bit colorspace.If you are using something like a Raspberry PI then you are likely running out of space on /dev/shm.

That's because you are running on an old version of ZoneMinder. 1.30.0 is the latest.

Telling us no video is not helpful. Please show us screenshots of the general and source tabs of the monitor in question after setting the source type to ffmpeg. Also need to see a full page of log entries. Like all the others have told you previously, the ffmpeg source type is what you should be using.

This is typical of most budget IP cameras

You need to set the framerate in the camera to something lower, try 5 fps. This is plenty for general surveillance. Make sure you have nothing in the MAX FPS and MAX ALARM FPS fields. Failure to do this will cause problems with the stream.

I'm not sure why you are running an old version of ZoneMinder, but I recommend you upgrade to the latest version of ZoneMinder and the latest supported version of your Linux distro. The latter will ensure you are running the newest available ffmpeg for your distro.

I bought a C1 foscam camera and i had the same issue with zoneminder.

Wifi was good, and with the Foscam app it worked.

I have to enable via webinterface of the C1 : Network / Onvif check enable and RTSP port is 554

so now it works with : Source Path: rtsp://<user>:<password>@<ip>:554/videoMain
