HOW TO INSTALL AN ACTI CAMARA

Post here to ask any questions about hardware suitability, configuration in ZoneMinder, or experiences. If you just want to know if something works with ZoneMinder or not, please check the Hardware Compatibility sections in the forum, and the Wiki first. Also search this topic as well.

1.24 (preview) is released and supports ACTi cameras. You need to adjust a couple things in the control panel of the web interface:

Video Setting -> Streaming Method (RTP over UDP)
Video Setting -> Encoder Type (MPEG4)

Make sure the default ports are enabled:

RTSP Port: 7070
Video Control Port: 6001

You will be better off at 640x480 @ 30FPS for now. You can test with higher resolutions but I don't believe Phil had access to megapixel cameras and the difference in frame rate may throw off the way Zoneminder is expecting to receive the data.

Obviously the 6600 PTZ functions will not work. However the API from ACTi spells out the functions (simple web requests) to control zoom / focus / pan / tilt....so you could hack together a script from the other PTZ scripts

Shame I'm stuck trying to do a openRTSP/ffmpeg/vpipe/vloopback solution!
Glad I could keep people in in the loop.
I've not got any ACTi camera's yet and I don't have ZM setup but I'm intrested. To help me shortcut a lot of reading, any change you could direct me to info on running these camera's with the "openRTSP/ffmpeg/vpipe/vloopback solution".

Thanks

Is it still true that high-res ACTI acm-1231 isn't supported yet by Zoneminder?

Thanks,
