If you have 8 devices and 8 channels then it ain't a shared card... then left blank CAPTURES_PER_FRAME and check the V4L_MULTI_BUFFER in the same options tab...

sorry, i have followed your latest suggestion, left the CAPTURES_PER_FRAME blank, and checked V4L_MULTI_BUFFER and I only get one image, and three cut off images. I am thinking that maybe I should install the bbtv driver, but I have no idea how to...

I need to ask a clarification question. Are you using (in the source tab) the device paths of /dev/video0, /dev/video1, /dev/video2, /dev/video3 with all 4 of the device channels set to 0? This sure reads like a device path/device channel problem except for the higher resolution working...

Pick one of the faulty monitors (cameras) and try changing the device number from whatever it is to 4-7 sequentially (check one device at a time) to eliminate those devices from the troubleshooting. nope, tried your suggestion and on all I get no image, so the working devices are video0 - 3 and only channel 0 on each. I am lost now as to what the problem could be. If anyone is interested, I could set up a user and you can log in to the system and have a look around, if thats ok, you can just pm me.
Thanks again...

while trying to sort out the issue regarding the console not being available, I edited the database.php file to change mysql_pconnect to mysql_connect and it seems to have solved all the issues with the monitors! they are all working perfectly now!

I think your issue is interference. Can you try connecting a camera directly to the card?

Hi, please look in this thread, it seems this guy had the same problem as yours, and he said the problem was the cable:
