I had the same issue as you. The event was properly recognized and recording started, but the recording never stopped. I made exactly the mistake discussed in the other thread; I linked the camera to itself. So every time it got it sent an event notification to itself again, which triggered an event again, which triggered an event again,...
Worth checking, it took me three nights before I found that other post and now it's working like a charm.

I don't know why or what's happenend.
Yesterday I had to remove --purge libva1 ... I had problems with XBMC and VDR and someone had posted to reinstall libva1.
During the remove synaptic also remove ffmpeg, zoneminder, libavcodecs etc..
I reinstalled all of them after the fresh installed libva1.
Now it works with the same configuration. Thank you all.
