Thank you. That's is very helpful. Now that I am tracking on this, I see a lot of threads on the forum where people struggle with this. With your latest recommendation and my reading on zone configuration I believe I can now work through this. While I'm trying to fine tune modect I thought I would just configure a camera for "record" mode. In that way I'm at least not missing anything that I want recorded. So, one final question, if I could. I can't figure out where to set length of the record duration or maximum record frame count. I would like create an new "record" event every 5-10 minutes. Currently it seems to run "forever" unless I do something to force a new event.

I think I have managed to answer my own question regarding "record" event durations.

First of all, under Options->Config->EVENT_CLOSE_MODE, must be selected to "time"

Second, under Monitor Source->Misc->Section Length defines the event length in seconds
