Have you run nmap against it since reset?

No, but I have just now. I'm not sure how nmap helps find the path for the ptz control?
Code: Select all
linuxmint@linuxmint:~$ nmap 192.168.1.180
Starting Nmap 7.80 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2024-03-29 18:57 AEST
Nmap scan report for 192.168.1.180
Host is up (0.0017s latency).
Not shown: 997 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
80/tcp open http
554/tcp open rtsp
8000/tcp open http-alt
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.27 seconds

Nmap scan report for 192.168.1.222
Host is up (0.55s latency).
Not shown: 996 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE

8080/tcp open http-proxy
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 79.19 seconds
It doesn't, explicitly. the above camera uses 8080. That may be sort of standard, I don't know. Yours seems to use 8000.

Ok, so what might the Control Address be?
Currently the Control Address is rtsp://admin@192.168.1.180

See my earlier example. I can't guarantee anything because I can't find anything useful about this camera.
Something like <your_user>:<your_password>@192.168.1.180:8000/onvif
You might not need the user:password part, experiment and check the logs to see the camera response, if any.

What have you got in the monitor control page?

Control Address: admin:<password>@192.168.1.180:554/onvif, where <password> means I have different text for a real password like ZoneMinderIsTheBestChuckOutTheRest. I'm keeping the password simple for now, as I don't think ZM could handle a more secure passphrase like: directory deepen shifting subduing

You didn't follow the example - control device.
maybe just /onvif or as shown: or something else entirely. No telling without specs, I don't see it in the iSpy list but feel free to see for yourself.

I put the specs in the 1st and 2nd post Sat Mar 23, 2024 7:10 pm
I followed the guide, but after a zm reboot, that funny setting appeared.

Cancelled.
Seems camera is faulty.
Tried:
- camera's recommended phone app
Searching for an ONVIF compatible ptz camera, any suggestions?
Affordable, but able to read (or clear enough to zoom in) number plates would be incredible if such a product exists.
