I am curious as to what method this uses to deinterlace. The sample before and after images on the link James referred to are obviously not the same image so I don't know whether it is just dropping one set of lines and doubling back up again or doing some sort of interpolation.

from what i understood from the posts.ffmpeg connects to the card and gets the full res grabs, zm then gets the jpgs from ffpeg and in the process ffmpeg can present a de-interlaced image to zm?
The previos option that corey refers too looks like ffmpeg can create a movie from the jpegs that have combing effects in them. I suppose i will have to test it and report back as it may not work as I/we hope at all.
I just hope there is a live cd or a ctu type distro as i dont fancy doing it the other way!!! lol

James I'm about to install FC6 and see if how well it works. FC5 had an issue with BASH in which it made sed misbehave. Unfortunate as thats what I use to update the config files and strip and replace all the create staments in the sql file with create if not exsist so that there is still flexablility even after the package is built
(actualy we have to thank Serg Oskin for that one as it was kicking my bum)
As a result the package was not very happy in FC5 and I didn't find a way I know around it. Hopefully things are fixed in 6. And there will be a few different distros based on packages from it.

Corey

Corey i was talking about a live cd version of motion and it was a tounge in cheek comment as their isnt. What i plan to do is build a motion test machine and see if i can use it as a source for zm, Something like Ross's contrib. You do things that are way over my head with linux so ill stay well out, i know waht bash is but for example i have no idea what sed is!! lol
