Hello,

I attempted to install ZoneMinder on Fedora Core 4 but with me being a complete Linux newbie I got stuck and could not get it working. Thankfully I have got ZoneMinder up and running with no problems at all using Live CD V1.22.2.

I am having a few minor problems with remote management.

I have tried to get VNC working and I have run the command "urpmi rfbdrake"
This installed the extra icons on the menu and I clicked Virtual Network Connection. I have set it to allow control of my machine and set a password. When I try and run tight vnc from my windows PC and type 192.168.0.4 it says connection initiated then i get an error saying Failed to connect

I have also installed webmin using the commands explained when the live cd first boots up. I can access it locally and log in fine but from my Windows PC if I type https://192.168.0.4:10000 it just hangs then I get a connection timeout error. I have tried adding my Windows PC IP to the allowed connections to webmin but it still is not working.

I can connect to ZoneMinder fine from my Windows PC and I can also SSH onto it.

Any help will be much appreciated.

In Mandrake Control Center ("Configure Your Computer" or "mcc" in a terminal) you will find a Security tab. There you can configure the firewall to allow whatever services you like.

I cant belive it was that simple! I totally overlooked checking the firewall settings. Thank you very much VNC and Webmin are both working now :D

EDIT: I am trying to get VNC to load on startup by using the instructions above:
VNC..

edit /etc/sysconfig/vncservers

un-comment the line, and put in"1:user"
from user session, run vncserver , this will setup default password, ans setup xstartup, then goto configuration, system->services, and make vncserver start on boot. (just did all this lastnight, works great)
When I go to /etc/sysconfig I can not find vncservers and also when I look in the services vncserver is not in the list.
