ah thanks i will do that from now on
acpi has nothing to do with out of memory problems. the 2.6 kernel has an issue with initializing some power management features of some boards and the kernel will not finnish booting. The 2.6 kernel is still not considered stable by most and I used the issue with acpi as an example and it is not related to what manages swap space in any way.
