ok then i have compiled jpeg-mmx, how do i get zm to use the new bits or will it happen automatically?

I _think_ the interface is the same so you just have to link it in. The simplest way to do this is probably just edit the Makefile and look for -ljpeg and change it -ljpeg-mmx (I think that's what it's called). You may also have to modify the -L and -I paths passed in to point to the library dir and include any different header files you may have (add a -L<your jpegmmx dir> and a -I<ditto> near the front of each list). Then just do a 'make clean' and a 'make' and see what happens.

mmm, i have looked at this and im not gonna. Its looks hard and i dont understand way to much off it for me to have a chance of making it through and ending with something stable. Ill stick with rpm's. To solve this im gonna fit 2 machines and split the load i think.
