there sould be a folder in the var/log dir called zm. this is where zm keeps its logs but if there was an error it would be in the messages log too. When you say its ok in grey but not colour, are you still capturing at 320x240?

Also are there any events in your messages log or is it empty

The default location for errors is usually /tmp, though changing it to be under var/log is certainly recommended.
