thanks for your help phil.

i had a look in my /var/log/syslog and the ERR message I am getting is:

localhost zmc_m1[9486] : ERR [Can't gethostbyname (192.168.1.202/) : No such file or directory

i dont understand what this is trying to say..any ideas anyone?

Basicaly it's not finding the IP you have listed.
for the host field you should have nothing other than the cameras IP, no slashes, no quotes,... just the IP
192.168.1.202

well, i decided to scrap this bag of problems and move onto FC3, which works fine. Thanks everyone for all your help
