zm script???

Guess not, huh...
Sorry for such questions.
The thing is I'm in a hurry to make ZM work.
Regarding ZM's README file when it says what to do for ensuring ZM to be started on reboot,
which would be the file to be copied to my "init.d" directory? zm.php (guessing again)?
Well I did it using the zm.php file and by the time I use the chkconfig command, the zm service is not recognized.
Thank you gentlemen for your patience.

Installing cambazola does not require a rebuild of zm. It's just a java script.
In the README I beleive it states to copy the "zm" from the scripts directory to /etc/init.d
then do the chkconfig add, etc. But your using Debian and the script is made for Redhat/Fedora/Mandriva, I don't thingk it will work on Debian.
If you search the forum, maybe someone has posted a working script (come to think of it you probably don't have a chkconfig command either).
Regards,
Corey

A Kanotix Debian distro actually, Corey. It's called
Kurumin Linux. =)
It has an adapted chkconfig command.
Oh, and I've just found the modified Debian zm script.
It's in the wiki:
Thank you =)
Help!... again.

I cannot see zm's web interface.
Something related to MySQL.
Apache and PHP are ok but by the time I point a browser to the zm.php file, I receive the following warning:
Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Lost connection to MySQL server during query in /var/www/zm/zm_db.php on line 21
Could not connect to database: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
Moreover, when I try to start it manually, here's the returned error:
# zmpkg.pl start
DBI connect('database=zm;host=vigilancia','zmuser',...) failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'vigilancia' (111) at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/ZoneMinder/Config.pm line 89

Please I need some guidance here.
Thank you.

Sounds like there might be an issue with mysql. The error is connection was lost so check your mysql logs and see if mysql is crashing.

The greatest forum moderator reply I've ever seen: "well, I cant help".
Well, I guess I'll try your remaster then.
Does it come with Conexant Fusion BT878 chipset (UCC4 card) support?
At last: MODERATORS, do I have any other thing to try concerning my last MySQL issue?

Im a modertor that means i edit posts and remove things that shouldnt be here.
IT DOES NOT MEAN IM A LINUX EXPERT
I have been using zm for about 2 yrs and i have always used the recommended distros. By all means carry on trying to get it to work on your distro. But i personally wander why people try it on dstro we dont use then moan when we cant support it. I have ever even heard of you distro much less used it.
My advice you can take i or leave it, is to learn on a distro we know works you have a choice of 3 and then once comfortable with it move to your distro.
No i have no idea why mysql has a problem!

I found ALOT of info on bin log at
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/ ... ation.html
From what I gather (sorry didn't really have that much time research it) your mysql is set up to replicate posibly. If there are not errors loged then your mysql should be okay.
I take that this is a remote database not on the zm local host?

Corey

James Wilson,
I am sorry. I did not mean to offend you.
Corey,
All of the packages and services are installed in zm's local host.
I'm starting fresh anyway.
Thank you very much

Barbado
no offence taken but the problem we have or i do anyway is supporting all the various flavours of linux when they are known to have issues. Its a zm forum for zm isues really. While some (corey) know more about other distros than me, all i know is mandriva.
If you use either mandriva or fedora 3 then you wont have these issues, or of course you can try to use gentoo, debian or ubuntu and keep finding things that i for one cant help with

By the way,
how many cameras can ZoneMinder support in the same server?
I have searched both the forum and the wiki's FAQ but found no clear answer.
Thank you.

there is no clear answer as it depends on frame rate, resolution disk speed proc speed etc but i would say 32 would be a limit at about 2 fps per cam and decent hardware
