You'll find that you configure your cards in modprobe as my example above in sequence seperated by commas ( 0=Gerneric, 77=your ebay card ) so that the first card initialized is set to 0 and the second to 77.

You should check the kernel documentation that is included with you kernel for your card options available since newer kernels most likely will have options that might not be available to you. These are usualy installed in /usr/share/doc/kernel-<version_no> but some distros you have to install the doc package (ie. kernel-doc). The good news is that up to 77 has been around for a few years so unless your running a really old distro, there is no need to check other than your bt848 card which you should be able to find as well.

I have discovered that you can not have different resolutions on different ports on one chip.

It would be nice if it did work (solutions anyone?)

also.. sometimes changes like that seem to work when you reboot the hardware.. sometimes the chip does not reset right with just a zm restart

Impossible. The chip needs to be re-initialized between resolution changes, that takes _a lot_ of time.
