Just some thing to keep in mind is that fps can vary between events so when you from your query, it should form the structure of input to ffmpeg to adjust the incoming fps for each event. Just in case you hadn't thought of it ;)

yeah.. was one of the first things I thought about. I did something like this with a windows solution when I was trying to figure which cat was pissing everywhere (hard to tell when you have 10 cats) It saved BMP better than making AVI's. Funny to watch all those cats running around at high speed... ZoneMinder is such a better solution.

This customer is setup with mocord with 2fps record and 12 fps motion and I have been thinking about using something like dvdauthor to create jump points to the actual motion events. Or putting some kind of code on the frame to show which event triggered the motion. But that would be part of stage 2.

I even thought of using mkv container since it can handle variable FPS. Stage 3 maybe.

1st stage is to make 24 1hr segments of each of the 20 cameras of the previous day at midnight and save them to the NAS box in some kind of logical filename/directory order.

I'll take any suggestions of features people might want or need. I'm pretty good with perl, php and image, video stuff so I figured I could contribute in this area.

Hello,

I had the same needs.

I have created a patch for this. You can find it here:
