Thanks for the reply cordel, sorry about my slow response, I have been away.
regarding running mediacheck, I have SME version of linux based on RH7.3, and SUSE 10.0 but mediacheck is not available.
I tried installing the disk in an ASUS server, dual xeon with 2 x 76GB SATA drives and the same error occurs. Also in a VMware box which I know can run it as it has been running their before but the same error occurs again.
Believing the CD to be faulty I burnt another with a different utility but the same thing happens. Thinking it might be my torrent download is corrupted so I have deleted the iso file and downloading again from the torrent.
