I have zoneminder working on the plug. Still testing performance but it looks pretty good.

Some good soul (thanks good soul!) already compiled version ZM 1.23.3, so I did not have to do much except

apt-get install zoneminder

it fails a couple of times, but

apt-get -f install zoneminder

+

apt-get upgrade zoneminder

+ manual addition of zoneminder.conf file

did the trick.

If you are trying this and need help, post it here and I will try to assist.

Thanks

If anyone want's a Plug for about half price let me know. I got it today, played with it for about 2 hours, had Zoneminder running, motion, and some other things. I decided to get brave and flash the 2.6.30 something kernel that the NSLU2 team is working on and since I was half asleep when I did it it's not booting. I don't have the time nor the interest now to mess with it. I know it can easily be recovered with the usb package on the marvel site, but I've got to many projects to work on.

Just PM me if you want it :)

I am looking at installing ZM on a QNAP TS-219 which is using the same Kirwood plateform.

Could you lay down the details of how you got ZM working ?

I will first have to install lenny on Ts-219 (thanks to Martin Michlmayr work)
and then ...

I am afraid the package that one can apt-get is ZM 1.23 and not 1.24

Yes, all you can get through apt-get is 1.23.3.

However, I know you can cross compile the latest version of zm, but I have not done that.

All you have to do is:

(1) boot the plug and configure networking - I assume this is already done.

(2) % apt-get zoneminder.

When I did #2, I got a dpkg error on some related packages. All I did to resolve those errors was:

After you get that error, try apt-get -f install to force an install of the files that didn't get loaded because of the error. Then try apt-get upgrade again, apt-get -f install back and forth until only the package that has the error is left.

If you are getting a specific error, please post it, but otherwise the above steps will get your 1.23.3 working. Sorry I did not cross-compile 1.24. I read about it but our current application works fine with 1.23 features. I will compile 1.24 at some point in the future.

I'm interested in some of these options, especially the router option. Some of you might have seen my post a while back:

I'd like to get one of these going with perl Devices:Serial and play around.
