interesting, sounds logical. I'm running 1.3 - most people are probably on 2.x and dont' see this. I'll consider upgrading to 2.x and see if it changes the behavior

I'm having the same problem, but switching to zms instead of nph-zms adds trouble.

with zms I get :

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

I have tried to install zoneminder on debian_ppc , gentoo_amd64 and now on debian_i386.

I always have the same problem, "the broken image symbol" I'm using an ip-cam, with compatible preset (Gadspot), wget-ting the image always works.

/var/log/messages contains loads of these:

can you post the command line you compiled zoneminder with?

looks like web root might be set wrong according to

File does not exist: /var/www/var

but i might be wrong

./configure --with-webdir=/var/www/zm --with-cgidir=/usr/lib/cgi-bin --with-webuser=www-data --with-webgroup=www-data

you'r right that it the path don't look right though. maybe I have to recompile with different webroot loacation

I donj't know, it all looks right
