I have downloaded Zm4Ms from James' site. On initial execution of the app, the main window appears. At this point, if I do absolutely nothing for approximately 30 seconds the app wil crash with a dialog box indicating that Viseon Viewer has encounter a problem and needs to close.
Also, when the main window appears and I immediately attempt to go to settings and change the IP address for my one camera, the app will crash after 30 seconds. I just don't get enough time to save my settings.
It seems as though the app crashes about 30 seconds after it has been executed.

James,
I have logged out of the and exited and restarted an the error still appears.
The dialog box states:
Viseon viewer 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Viseon Viewer 2. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous
It has a couple of links for a more detailed description of this message and
finally three button options appear: debug, send report and don't send report

When I click on debug, the MicroSoft "Error" Message dialog box and the main Viseon window disappear

ah that is probably assuming then you have a debug environment dont worry.
I can only assume there is a conflict somewhere.
What os is it on, what version of the framwork did you install, and is it up to date. What language are you set to and anything wierd with your time zones or formats. The only thing i can think is that every 30 seconds it checks if it should change the view.
So load the app and next to the main admin settings is a 'user' settings icon. This will load a smallwindow about default view and timer chnage views check enter a valid time in both but dont enable either of them at this point.

James,
OS: XP Professional Version 2002 SP2
Framework version 2.0
Language: English (United States)
Time Zone: GMT-05:00 Eastern Time (US and Canada)
I believe framework was automatically installed by a software package that used a little while back. Also, Dell connects to my machine and occassionally downloads updates to it.
The user dialog:
Startup view 4
Auto switch enabled is UNCHECKED
Custom 1 time is 12:00:00 AM and enabled is UNCHECKED
Custom 2 time is 12:00:00 AM and enabled is UNCHECKED

James.
I changed both times to 1:00 PM and still encountered the problem.
I also checked the Application log via eventvwr and found the following entry:
EVENT id 1000
Faulting applicaton videonviewer.exe version 1.0.0.0 stamp 447eb9ef,
Faulting module slipslp.dll, version 3.1.65.0 stamp 407c46b4 debug

bob im afraid i have no idea then. Do other .net apps function ok. Maybe you could uninstall the framework and the app and resinstall. Do you have another machine to test on

I have one other Net app call Paint.Net. This is a freeware paint program from Microsoft. I believe it's primary purpose is to promote Net. The Paint.Net program works fine. This is the app that migrated me from 1.1 to Net 2.0.
I have an older Windows 2K box but ZM4MS won't install until I upgrade to SP3. I'll download the SP which is 124MB and install it. Then I'll give ZM4MS a try on Windows 2K.

James,
ZM4MS works fine on my Win 2K box after installing SP3. So, I'll try uninstalling Net 2.0 and reinstalling it on my XP box and see what happens.

James,
FYI
I uninstalled Net 2.0 and out of curiousity, I tried to run Micorosft's Paint.Net. It crashed as would be expectd. So, I rebooted the machine, reinstalled Net 2.0 and executed ZM4MS. I waited for about 30 seconds and it crashed with the standard MS dialog indicating that it had encountered an error and had to close.
I then tried Paint.net and it worked without any problems.
