I've encountered a problem with ZM4MS installed on my Win2k machine. When I check Auto Cycle current View, ZM4MS continuously displays many windows one on top of another and every so often it displays an Unhandled Exception error indicating it cannot access a disposed object. The object is Menu.Cont.

have you set the config up fully?
the auto cycle i will have to test as it was added yonks ago, just does the same job as pressing the mutiscreen view button again
so for example you open zm4ms and press quad, you get cam 1 - 4
press quad again you get 5-8 etc etc
the way the app knows to stop is when it comes accros a blank entry in the url/ip. so if you have filled all 36 cams in even though you are not using them it will assume they contain cam info.
Seq might need a bit of work as its not something i use myslef.
But on the plus side at least it worked on this one. I have no idea why it fails on your other machine

I've installed ZM on Mandriva 2007, woks fine so far. But when i click the Playback Button, i get this error Message:
i've had this problem under Ubuntu, but the solution for Ubuntu doesn't work on Mandriva. (see Page 28 & 29 of this Thread)
Any idea?

you need to remove skip-networking from your mysql settings.
There is a zm4ms howto on the wiki that covers this

i don't have a entry like "skip-networking" in my
/etc/sysconfig/mysqld
Code: Select all
# Use the Instance Manager by default. Set to "1" to use the old mysqld_safe script.
use_mysqld_safe="0"
# (oe) set TMPDIR and TMP environment variables
TMPDIR="${datadir}/.tmp"
TMP="${TMPDIR}"

Hi James,
I have a feature request for zm4ms.
I think you did know Moition? (
http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome )
Therefor you can download a tool called "MotionConfigToy".
Info:
http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Mo ... nConfigToy
My suggestion is, this is very usefull.
Do you think you can implant such a thing like this in zm4ms?

it could be done, you mean change the config of the server form zm4ms. But its a bit of a monster. I would have to release a new version to match each zm release and would have to modify the db directly. Yes possible but a lot of work (a hell of alot) for little gain IMO

I had cleaned out all the IP/URL and MON data except for my one camera but I did not clean out the Camera Description as I felt it was probably only informational data. The problem of multiple windows still persisted. So, I cleaned out all the Camera Descriptions and no longer have the multiple window problem. But I still get the Unhandled Exception message when I attempt to access the Menu a few times. Also, I do not get any video from ZM. The camera display toggles between a big red X and a red,green, blue icon. In the setup, I used the IP address of ZM and MON set to zero

do you have a mon 0?
i think that should be a 1. It needs to match your zm server
I would also look at getting it working then see if you find any bugs. I have never tested it when its not got the correct settings so god knows whta it will do. To be honest i didnt think anyon ewould lol
There is an issue i have never spent the time to trrack down when in 'always on top' mode

ZM has camera ID's of 1 and 3. I've tried both and neither generate an image. I've left the PORT field blank. I've only used IP address of ZM and a camera ID. Should I also be putting in a port number?

no if your using port 80 leave it blank. Are you using the live cd or the 2006 zm cd?

well should be ok as thats what i use.
Have you set it up ok, ie user names and passwords match, not using url mode?

I've changed the ZM admin password since ZM is now being accessed from the WAN. Also, I'm not using the URL mode if you mean this mode from ZM4MS. The URL* option is unchecked in ZM4MS.
EDIT: Therein lies the problem. I changed the ZM admin password but forgot to change it in ZM4MS. We now have a video feed.
EDIT2: ZM4MS displays both cameras fine but I still get the unhandled exception dialog box when I try to access the menu three or more times.
