.74 is knocking on now but what do you mean by 'doesnt accept your password, id expect it to default to new settings so you might need to set it up again

Ah yes... I do remember there was some trick to setting it up. Like a default username and password. I didn't see it in the first post, but it's all coming back to me again.
Would you be so kind as to remind me. I guess I was assuming that the username and password it is asking for on first launch was my ZM username and password.
Thanks.

default is
admin
admin
then goto settings and change as required
if you overite the old install files it will upgrade, if you install from a new location then it will reinstall and default everything
new one is tonnes better and worth the pain of entering the details

lol i know you do, but appreciate phil more
you will have a tonne of features from you r old version try pressing the home key whilst in zm4ms and you should get a full screen dedicated view, right lick to change/close or press end. dual head is best for this
also check the speaking alarms out *1.22.3 only

Hello James:
Today I'm planning to reinstall ZM on my box, upgrade video card, etc.... So I was hoping to use Viseon Viewer to record some archived videos so I don't have to worry about saving anything (oh, and FFMPEG doesn't work on my ZM box so I can't create videos there).
I have your latest version working and, being a bit new to the playback interface, I have some questions:
I'm getting the error "Error connecting to the database: Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts." I know that I have correctly put in the ZM database name, username, and PW, and I also think I now have the correct number of digits (6 -- I'm on CTU).
I wondered if it could be a path problem. On my ZM box the events path is just 'events' and the full path to them is /usr/lib/zm/html/events. So that (the full path) is what I currently have in Viseon. I have also tried just events with no slashes.
My other question is this: in the Monitors settings page, to make it work, I have to click the URL* button for each monitor used. With these settings I can do live views just fine.
However, in the Playback setup menu, the check boxes are greyed out for those monitors I have the URL box checked as mentioned before.
To test, I unchecked the URL* box in Monitors and then I could check them in the Playback settings.
So.. I guess that question might be related to why I can't get playback to work!
Thanks.

Playback wont work (i maybe should add a warning) for url mode cams. zm4ms assumes a url cam is a ip camera, webserver etc. SO that needs fixing first.
The error you post is not a path issue its a mysql issue but as the ip address is malformed (ie you have awhole url in there not just an ip due to url mode) then it will bomb. But zm4ms is only written for 3 and more recently 4 digit events (you dont need 6 digits unless you want correct ordering in folder views, i use 3 and have 10's of thousands of imaged per folder) so you will havea problem there
You need to modify the live view path to get it working nativly. The default is for mandriva (as thats what is use) ie Ross's live cd. CTU (Coreys distro) has a slightly different format. IF you pm your zm box's details i will post a correct path for you, but this wont help you to backup images as playback wont be able to get at them due to your 6 digits. I can add 5 and 6 digit support if required for the next release.

OK... I'll probably be able to figure out how to get the URL mode thing figured out. That is just how I managed to get it to work when I first set it up, but I'm not using IP cameras or any non-standard setup. It's just supposed to pull the images from the ZM box using CTU distro.
Also, perhaps I was mistaken that I have 6 digit events... Inside the folder for each camera is a 6 digit subfolder, but inside that are files like "0001-capture.jpg" ... So I'm probably actually using 4 digit, yes?
What is the live view path for CTU?
Thanks!!!

the path to an image jpeg is:
/usr/lib/zm/html/events/1/129985/0001-capture.jpg
If it's any help, the path I was using in "url mode" was:
http://10.0.1.205/cgi-bin/zm/nph-zms?mo ... r=x&pass=x
with port 3306
Is that the correct port also?
Thanks for helping.

the port cant be changed in zm4ms (at the mo) and will always use 3306 but thats purly for the mysql data.
In you live path you need to add that zm bit for your system ie
/cgi-bin/zm/nph-zms
im not sure if it needs the leading / or not as im not a windows machine at the mo, but id try it with first.

I have that listed in the PATHS settings, but what do I put in the MONITORS setttings panel?
I wonder if I'm misunderstanding you... I had it working for live views with the path I mentioned set up in each of the 6 monitors I have, with URL* checked.
Now, to fix my playback problem, I need to uncheck the URL* and change the IP/URL into just simply the URL of my box? Or somthing else?
Thanks.
