i have had a look but had no luck as yet. I cant leave it on a non smp kernel as its had no idle time yet since about 2pm ie 3 hours. If anyone knows how i can sync these cores i would be grateful

I have read about acpi slowing down the cores at different rates that might account for the clock doing this, the tes that you had to show the time how did you do this mate? so i can monitor

no tyhat didnt help lol. I have been reading about timing issues though and load of big fixes to this in 2.6.18 but i cannot find a 2006 rpm for a 2.6.18 kernel but i have found 2.6.17 smp rpm that i have used. so far so good will have to see, but i still have acpi and acpid disabled

The script I used to test is in /tmp and is call timecheck.sh. Just execute it and it will output times to the screen every half second and grumble if it finds time going backwards! Or redirect it into a find and background a la

Code: Select all

sh /tmp/timecheck.sh > /tmp/timecheck.log &
to leave it running for a while.

well we may have a result here
I have updated to a 2.6.17 kernel and disabled all the acpi deamons

and so far not a single error, finger crossed its took me 9 months to nail this!!

and then once you had a look it was fixed in hours!!! lol well done Phil for this and for all your work in ZM

No problem. After a few months with no much ZM time, I'm now getting a bit more time to spend on it. An wrap-up release with fixes and a couple of new things in it should be out pretty soon.

Hi Phil and James

I am having same trouble here with a ZM Livecd 1.21.4 using two cams.

I am yet to see those jumps in time you mention, but I do see the logs of starting new event one after the other and eventually the aproaching buffer overun problem.

I do see too that doing a top shows zma for that particular camera requesting a lot of processor and pushing the capture up to 10 frames per second when the settings are set to be to capture 1fps.

Doing a restart to zm sometimes fixes de problem, other times a full restart. Sometimes even last two do not seem to work. I put the cam on function "none" for a couple of minutes and then restart to modetect and things work ok for sometime before problem appearing again.

Has this problem been identified and resolved or was james having a hardware problem? My machine is a Pentium III 500mhz with 256 of ram.

Regards!

upgrade it to 1.22.2 mate

James

Just before doing so, I know there are no guarantees and that one should always backup, but then again, have u done an RPM upgrade using Ross update to a Livecd installation?

I think it tinkers with the database and I think it should update it even though being full.

I know there are no guarantees here lol, just wondering if it has been done before.

Regards!

yeah just avoid the 1.22.0 rpm as it doesnt like upgrade but 1.21.4 to 1.22.2 should be fine, but id stop zm first, i just always do

Well I just did Ross's RPM to 1.22.8 from the Livecd 1.21.4 and it went quite smooth.

Unfortunately this is what comes new with the upgrade.

These are two wireless cameras, the signal y very good so I do know its not a failure of communication between zm and cameras. If I open a Montage, I see that every time the process restarts the image goes black and kicks in again. I am certain signal strength is good.

Another thing I saw is that in the control panel, sometimes the sources show up both red, another just one and clicking for live view does show a live picture, when the console refreshes it alternates between two red, one red one green or both green :-S

Any thoughts on this?

Regards!

have you tried reg exp on and off and http 1.0 and 1.1

Yes, I have done that, the output is the same as above, its been runnin now for about ten hours and allthough a couple of restarts things are going the same. The console shows both cams on red sources and clicking a live view shows either no image or an image that goes black, kicks in and goes black again. Sometimes while image does kick in, frame rate goes up to 3 and back to 0.89 and 1. Frame rate are set to 1 and Max frame rate too is set to 1.

Up to now unfortunately the upgrade did worse. I used this to do the upgrade:

rpm -Uvh zm-1.22.2-8_101mdk.i586.rpm

Is there a way to uninstall the upgrade and go back to 1.21.4 and would you mind posting the command? or am I out of luck and have to stick with this and sort it out?

Thing is the ZM box is no good as it is right now. :-(

Regards!
