Am I in the right place? I want to assemble a monitoring....

Hello, I found this site during one of my many searches.

I would like to assemble a portable monitoring system, one I could route into any active internet account without using the clients computer in any way.

When I do work at a client's place I would like to leave behind a camera, small monitor or screen and a "box" connected to the internet so he an I can view freeze frames of what the camera sees. Live video is not what I need, I need to look at still frames for comparison.

I'm a maintenance mechanic, and have electronics people available to help me. I have no idea if you folks can help me but I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions. I don't want to start fabricating or manufacturing equipment, I'd like to find available components I can put together.

e.g. for a monitor I am wondering if I can use a portable DVD player auxiliary screen like the ones hung on the other headrest of the car so both rear passengers can watch the same movie.

Can you be a little more specific ? portable means a lot ... and the term video player ,doesn't really fit in this forum ...

I suppose you mean something else ...

Non-Zoneminder Chat?

I thought maybe some of the people who have been members here for a while might help steer me in the right direction or offer some advice.

Thanks in advance to anyone with any helpful comments.

Not without you offering up some details. Or if you want a answer as vague as your question;

Yes.

I've read it again in a less drunk condition ,and may figure out what you want :

A box that you plugin with a power cable ,and on which a camera is connected.

But this box also needs to be accessible from the internet. (without connecting it to any local network)

Then from the internet you'd like to see the pictures recorded by this box. (1 fps is enough ,based on timeline).

Correct ?

Hello thanks for the responses.

I would like to find a cheap camera that could be hooked up to a small monitor (perhaps a car dvd player monitor) to display freeze frames. Four to six frames per second would be sufficient.

Again if you have any ideas, Thanks
