image delay

Hi guys!
Hopefully you can assist me with my little problem. I recently upgraded my zoneminder hardware from a pentium III, 650 Mhz with 512 Mb in memory to a bit more powerful pentium IV 3 Ghz, 4Gb memory and a lot more. All in all a much more powerful machine to have as a server for my 4 analog cameras that are connected through a Axis 240Q so all traffic is translated to IP before coming to the server. Now to the problem. I'm running the new system on a Ubuntu 7.04, while the old machine ran the Zoneminder installation setup (liveCD).
It was functioning quite well on my old machine (with a regular reboot) but on the new one the images are showing with a 3-12 second delay. While running a store and using the cameras to see if anyone is in the store, you basically have them at your office in that time.
I have tried to tweak the system around, but not having any luck I turn to you. Can anybody point me in the right direction. I don't think that I should have a lagging problem like this on a machine that is 4 times more powerful than the old one. But nothing I have tried have resulted in more current images than 3-12 second delay. Help would be greatly appreciated.
