In /var/log/messages I get this when I try to get ZM to start:

Code: Select all

Dec 30 09:00:55 ov1srv1 sudo: root : TTY=pts/0 ; PWD=/mooby/camera ; USER=daemon ; COMMAND=/usr/local/bin/zmdc.pl startup

Dec 30 09:10:18 ov1srv1 zmdc[4674]: INF [Server starting at 07/12/30 09:10:18]

Dec 30 09:10:28 ov1srv1 zmdc[4672]: FAT [Can't connect: Permission denied]
Dec 30 09:10:28 ov1srv1 zmpkg[4662]: ERR [Unable to run "/usr/local/bin/zmdc.pl startup", output is "Starting server"]
I'm not sure what's going on. What would/could cause those errors?

looks like you have an http server running already.

If new to zm please learn with the live cd then move over to your distro of choice

I do have an http server going. I'm running Apache. I'll have a look into the LiveCD and see what I can learn.

I guess one thing I could try is to kill the the automatic startup of my httpd service in init.d and see how I fare out with that. I'll test the livecd on a test server as well.

I'm running SuSE 10.3 on my server. On a slightly different note, I'm curious as to which distro seems to have the fewest issues with this software. If there's a distro that "just works" with ZM, then I'll go with that.
