OpenSuse 10.3 64 Bit w/ Logitech QuickCam

Post by dkoerner »

I'm running OpenSuse 10.3 64 Bit w/ Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF. I have tested it with KDETV and Skype and both seem to work OK.

However, when I try to configure the camera for ZoneMinder, I can't seem to get any images to appear.

As root:

I've tried the command "zmu -d /dev/video0 -q -v -U admin -P admin" but if fails with message: "Error, failed to get channel 0 attributes: Invalid argument"

I also tried the command "zmu -d 0 -q -v -U admin -P admin"
Error, failed to open video device 0: No such file or directory

When I tried the command "zmu -l -U admin -P admin". All I get is:
"Id Func State TrgState LastImgTim RdIdx WrIdx LastEvt FrmRate"
and no other output.

One last thing I have had trouble with some other video programs not getting video from the QuickCam as well. For instance when I run the cammand: "xawtv -device /dev/video0" I get the message:
"This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/x86_64 (2.6.22.13-0.3-default) xinerama 0: 1024x768+0+0
X Error of failed request: XF86DGANoDirectVideoMode
Major opcode of failed request: 138 (XFree86-DGA)
Minor opcode of failed request: 1 (XF86DGAGetVideoLL)
Serial number of failed request: 67
Current serial number in output stream: 67"

I haven't tried to hard to get this to work with xawtv because I was just using it to test and once Skype and KDETV both produced Video I moved on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Update:

After some more research I came to figure out the UVC driver is a V4L2 device and not a V4L1. Armed with that info I was able to fined this post: http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewto ... 61c7307732
