Is there a way to use a ptz camera to do motion detection on two separate presets?

So goto preset 1, get img, goto preset2, get img, go back to 1 and compare for changes for motion etc.

Otherwise it seems like for a perimeter security two fixed cameras would be better then a single more expensive ptz.

Debating getting a toshiba IK-WB21A or an Axis 213ptz to do this.

No, there is no ability to do that at this time.

What it the FPS was exactly timed to coincide with these cycles?

Two modect entries for the same camera...

Nah, might work in theory but in practice it'd be a nightmare to sync manually and a staggered startup isn't available, and even then a mechanical system of ptz would not be accurate to the nanosecond. AND - it's quite likely the preset will not be a pixel-perfect match to the previous position.

Go for two fixed cameras, say Axis 211a. Has advantages:

1. Johnny Scrote doesn't simply wait until it's pointing the other way if it's in view.
2. Mechanical systems break down quicker.
3. PTZ use more power.
4. More flexibility.
5. Big floppy ptz won't find the exact spot time after time.
