I am currently using windows :( software to control my canon vc-c3 PTZ camera... I would like to be using ZM, but I really would like to have the PTZ support. I am willing to make a contribution to the ZM team for help in implementing the vc-c3 support. I am not a programmer, so any help would be great....

Here is the PDF from the SDK...

Arrow Canon's information on the VC-C3 (SDK and etc)

The only way anyone can add a cam is we would need one of these cams.
The SDK is developed for windblows and does us no good really.
I'll add this to the list of things to get.

You can send one to either Phil or myself.
Just PM one of us for details if and when that happens ;)

VC-C3

I'd also like to register my interest for using the Canon VC-C3.
The link posted by user unmanaged contains RS232 information and isn't anything to do with windows.

Can I assist the developers in putting in beta support for the VC-C3. I can test one of two VC-C3 cameras I have here (In the UK).

Although it would be nice for the developers, I don't think they absolutely require a VC-C3 to play with to get support started.

Thanks

If you have the camera already, giving one of the devs full access to a system pointing at it may help as well.

This can be arranged. Is kubuntu favourable?
What sort of access will a developer require?

I can get hold of a rubbish sacrificial PC and use with a clean linux install leaving the PC on for all to play with/hack/whatever :)

Ask Cordel or Phil. They are the devs, so pick what they like. :)

I've got a few vc-c1s, but have no idea what they take for power other than they're dc. Could you let me know what your vc-c3 power supplies are; voltage, amperage and center pin (positive or negative)?

TIA

Please ignore this request, I just had to open my eyes and examine the camera little closer. The VC-C1 requires 12V @ 1A with center positive.

The DC connector on the VC-C3 and VB101 is a Standard connector ... in Japan not US/EU !! It's a EIAJ-04 (Radioshack Adaptaplug D)

The connector is different from standard DC connectors as the pin is in the plug not the socket.

The connectors are specced from 10.5-13.5V and the VC-C3 and VB101 will run from 9 to 13.5V, centre pin positive.

Thanks for the info on the physical jack.

If it helps whoever implements this, there's source code available from an abandoned (I think) project named devserv. The license is covered by the Berkeley Lab Camera Control System License, which is similar to the BSD license.

Just another bump on this topic.. I was looking at making something that was vc-3 protocol compatable (Maybe even vc-4).. Depending on whats out there...

Anyone else do anything on this trail?
