damn me,
probably i was burned, a little tired after this marathon of 20 hours on
this F#@king delicius asus barebone

but ok, i resolve all the issue about installing zm on slack12,
but appear that the gremlin on my back is always alive and kicking..

some info useful for debug (or help):

Have you verified that the card is loading correctly?
dmesg |grep bttv

Hi Cordel, and thanks for the answer,
i use this card on a previous zm installation (and it work perfectly for about 1 year and half) defining in modprobe options tuner=-1 radio=-1 card=77,77,77,77,77,77,77,77

the dev videos work all (on prev. installation)

now, i read on some post here that this card work better with 8x 102's card,
but now i'm not so sure, appear that the boot was very very long (more than 2 mins) and what leave me stoned is the presence of "audio capture devices",
that i've not for sure.
Now i can't try again till tomorrow (i leave the server on final site and still not yet implemented the remote connection, to save this night to me, cause i'm a bit tired now  )
Maybe is the V4L2 that is different (on prev. i used the old V4L )

but definitely i will force this card to work, want it or not i need to restart the video surveillance there.

Tomorrow i try to reset to 77 the card type.

and post the result.
best wishes

For the delay, add this to the options file.

Code: Select all

options i2c_algo_bit bit_test=1
The audio is normal as it is in the chip, but usually not implemented.
This is the other line I add for my card.

Code: Select all

options bttv gbuffers=16 radio=-1 tuner=4 card=102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102
It is a Chinese clone...

hi there, i've tested the suggestion
on /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf

options i2c_algo_bit bit_test=1
options bttv gbuffers=16 radio=-1 tuner=4 card=102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102

and also the combo

options i2c_algo_bit bit_test=1
options bttv gbuffers=16 radio=-1 card=77,77,77,77,77,77,77,77

cause in my last installation this card (a kodicom8800 china-clone) work perfectly
with the 77 settings.

and in both case i never have the "blue screen" only black screen on zoneminder
and also was not able to have a videocapture work (test the kdetv)

i download the last vanilla kernel 2.6.24.2 and try to use it.

the problem continue to damn me...

here is the dmesg when i try to mount on the mod.

-----------------------------
appear that i've some trouble with the i2c-adapter (at least from what i can understand)
i suffer from a timeout at bit 7 ... what the F#@K is?
:D
ok, the hardware i use is a asus pundit r-350
maybe is a irq issue? (i see that this card use 4 irq and are shared by other device too)

any suggestions is very welcome cause is a real hard fight here :D .

thanks a lot.

Now follows a summary of the probes I have just done.
Just press ENTER to continue:

Driver `eeprom' (should be inserted):
Detects correctly:
* Bus `SMBus PIIX4 adapter at 0a00'
Busdriver `i2c-piix4', I2C address 0x52
Chip `SPD EEPROM' (confidence: 8)

EEPROMs are *NOT* sensors! They are data storage chips commonly
found on memory modules (SPD), in monitors (EDID), or in some
laptops, for example.

Driver `it87' (should be inserted):
Detects correctly:
* ISA bus, address 0x260
Chip `ITE IT8712F Super IO Sensors' (confidence: 9)
