export permission error

Warning: fopen(temp/zmFileList.txt) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/share/zoneminder/zm_export_funcs.php on line 303
Can't open event export list file 'temp/zmFileList.txt'

above is the error i get when trying to export 1 or more events -- i can not tell if
the list file is even being created -- where is it suppose to be created?
if it works where should the tar/zip be?

another problem that has been showing up in the messages log is

Feb 12 20:59:29 fiveovid zmc_dvideo0[3963]: WAR [Buffer overrun at index 29, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size]

all camera's appear to be working normally most of the time -- when it does not
the camera will go into alarm and stay there but nothing gets written to the disk.
sometimes they just start working (recording )other times it is a real pain.

Is image buffer in the video cfg what they mean by ring buffer in the error msg?
i have tried upping the buffer count to 50 & setting max fps to 5.

What is considered adequate memory for 9 or 10 camera's with motion detect?

How many camera's can be expected to record to disk at the same time when in
alarm?

I think i have a reasonably good card it has 4 878 video chips -- it is capable of 4 camera's per chip but i try to keep it at no more than 2 -- 3 at the most per device.

any idea's would be appreciated

thank you
rob

Some how as the error shows zm does not have permission to create or read that folder/file. It should be in your web path you definded when you configured zm, /var/www/html/zm/temp maybe.
What are the permission's on that directory?

Each monitor you can configure the overall buffer size "Image Buffer Size" under the buffers tab. This value should always be greater than the total of your other buffers.
rrk wrote: What is considered adequate memory for 9 or 10 camera's with motion detect?
This depends on what your image size, palette, and buffers are set to as well as how many cameras. What do you want to do?

That also depends on what the system can handle and how it is built. If you go with a server board where you can utilize separate buses, and use a good quality SCSI or sata controller, you can do quiet a bit, you just have to build the system correctly.

Each device (chip) can only handle 30 fps NTSC (25 fps PAL) total minus switching and sync time. All four ports in use will only produce ~3 fps for each cam connected to that device and all setting on that device have to be exactly the same.
You might give the Documentation a read.

I don't know what dir it is trying to create the file in.
the temp part of 'temp/zmFileList.txt' kind for throws me for a loop -- i tried using
find zmFileList.txt and did not find anything so i don't know what dir to check permissions on.

this is a debian install the web path is /var/cache/zoneminder/ under that are
two dir's events and images-- there is no temp dir ? should there be ? if so where should it be made?

i'm using fairly simple camera's 1/3 sony's for the most part 320/240 rgb moddect
with as tight as i can make them zones. generally speaking there might be 3 cameras
max in alarm at 1 time

the board is rated at 120 fps and since there are 4 chips i assume that means 30fps
per chip i have the max fps and alarm fps set to 5 pre is 10 post is 10 and image is set for 50 for the individual camera's

i can not reliably get 2 camera's in alarm to record

2.6.22.3-rc1-slh-smp-2 (debian Sid)
AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+
512 m pc2700 memory ide
ata100 drive
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 1328 MB in 2.00 seconds = 663.87 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 172 MB in 3.01 seconds = 57.22 MB/sec

the box is used for nothing else

turns out it was a debian package error
i had thought maybe the temp dir was missing so i made one and when i went to update
that was the case it was missing as the new package made one

Preparing to replace zoneminder 1.22.3-8 (using .../zoneminder_1.22.3-10_i386.deb) ...
Stopping ZoneMinder: Zoneminder already stopped

Warning: contents of /usr/share/zoneminder/temp has been moved to /tmp/zonemdiner/temp as the temp direct
ory is about to be setup properly

OK, I just installed 1.22.3 on my Ubuntu install.
I am not understanding what you did to fix this?
My version is at: 1.22.3.

The answer is here.
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... rom_a_.deb

That or get a newer version where this is fixed.

Thanks Lee Sharp.

I put on my eye glasses and read it this time. It works! Thanks!

What a challenge it has been to get this up and running!

Thanks, Again!!!
