this afternoon i started setting up a dedicated machine for cctv using ubuntu 7.10 server as base and zoneminder (the ubuntu package). I have 2 webcams, one basic Labtec and one Logitech STX. both have been detected out-of-the-box on my main pc which is running a standard ubuntu 7.10.
other than zoneminder the only other thing installed is webmin for server control.
i have started with the labtec camera which has been recognised and has /dev/video0- i have configured zoneminder with it and it works. than i have connected the logitech cam and it is not recognised, no /dev/video* is beeing created and the dmesg log shows:
