hi there all - i have been through the various wiki/manuals/howtos but still cant figure out how to email and upload to ftp jpegs of events. without it it can proves useless to run zoneminder if the thiefs decide to take the server with them...
is there anyone who can do a simple step by step to configure zoneminder with ftp and email uploading?
this is how far i got: i filled the details into the relevent filleds under options>ftp and email. In regard to the email - it seems to be missing input field for username/password for the smtp server (i want to use gmail)

what else do i need to do?

On your zoneminder page at 127.0.0.1 Click on Options.
Then ftp
choose tar
enter remote server where files go to. yourcoolserver.net
enter username and password.
Save.

click on the tab that says email.
enter your email address.

Go back to main page.
click on filters.

Make a filter.
Total score greater than 60.
upload.
email details.
save.

on the command line
zmpkg.pl restart

hi there and thanks for the reply - since i have posted this i have trailed through the forum posts and figured out most of what i need. Ftp works fine. emails is still problematic as i cant figure out
1 how to set postfix or sendmail to send emails so no localhost option for zoneminder
2. using gmail instead of localhost (ie inputing smtp.gmail.com into the options). on top of your instructions i found out from another post here that you need to input username and password into zmfilter.pl but evenso it's still dont send my emails (zoneminder log says it has been sent but no email arrived)
put all this on hold anyway as my concern now is with exposure on webcams (logitech stx and labtec) - i get very bad exposure and cant change them in the settings (i change brightness and contrast but they revert back to wrong ones)
