Just installed zoneminder on Debian Lenny and it went really smooth. Put an axis 206 camera in it which worked fine as well.

When I click on events it shows the events. When I click on an event it also shows fine. But when I click on stills it shows only empty squares instead of thumbnails.

where should I look to fix this?

Check the logs.
I would suspect a permissions error but it could be several other things as well.

I feel stupid

in options -> paths I put a / in front of the events path that shouldn't have been there
