Lower load after event review?

Thi is kind of a strange issue, not really a 'problem' but perplexes me nonetheless.

ZMLiveCD 2007 upgraded to 1.23.2 on an AMD 2000 system, 'pico' four port bt card, 750 mb ram 300 gb hd, radeon 9200...

Startup and load montage - green scale in the taskbar load meter is MAX'd ... close montage, get the timeline on events, review one event, close all windows and open montage back up - green scale on taskbar load meter now at half scale ... what gives?

I thought originally it was an autoscaling meter, but the red scale stays the same, very low. ZM console load indicator before event review is about 2.5 with the montage on but no motion, with all 4 cams doing 2.5 fps ea load shows 3.x or so. Review one event and bring back up the montage, load is at 1.25!! (load with montage off and plenty of motion is about 0.3)

Could this have something to do with loading jpeg libraries? I do have one different setting, jpeg quality for display is default 70, but I change the jpeg quality for record to 100. Saves a tiny bit of processor and makes for great archive images. That's the only real change I make with the LiveCD systems because they're so good ;)

Like I said it does not seem to be a 'problem' but I don't like to see loads that high, and I doubt an end user could be trained to open the event before opening the montage ...

This is my personal experiment station so I was originally testing the hardware so that I knew it would be good for experimenting on PCLOS. Now I dont want to load over it until I figure this out ;)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Maybe just a guss but if your cpu has stepping it screws up the precentages sometimes or it just took that long to turn the scaling on most amds have stepping i believe and most distros turn it on

like htop says i have 4.5 load despite the fact i have 2 cpu so load can only go to 2.0

load is basically a count if process's queued. So on your quad there are 4.x things waiting to be completed. As its a dual core a load of 2 is fine (1 per core).
The graph is processor usage, you could have 12 things queued waiting for say the network or the disk, ie not the processor, so you can have high load, with low cpu use, and the oppoiste is true you can have high cpu and low load.

Using the server to display is hard on it, but i cant explain such a massive difference and can only assume its to do with closing and reopening the montage due to cahce issues etc rather than viewing an event,
