Too many short events when constant motion.

Post by FuriousGeorge »

Im noticing I get over one event per minute when in Modect mode, and sometimes motion is missed between stopping this event and starting the next one.

Is there some way to turn up the sensitivity for certain monitors?

I was expecting that when the motion was constant I would get one long event, or at most one event for every few minuts.

Yes, there is,
You can decrease filtered pixels and/or your blend percentage. Of coarse the blend percentage is also affected by the fps of the monitor as far as duration is concerned so if you are running at a higher rate, you will need to decrease the blend so your reference image does not change so fast.

Tried some things

My FPS is 20 for every camera, and I'm using a Frame Skip of 7.

I found "Reference Image Blend %ge" pretty easily in the Setting->General Tab, and changed that from a default of 7 to 4. Think I should go lower?

I'd rather be capturing nothing than missing movement.

I also found "Min/Max Pixel Threshold (0-255)" in the Zone config dialog, but I'm not sure if that is what you meant by "decrease filtered pixels", so for now I let it be.

While looking for that I also noticed the many presets. I also notice the default values don't match any of those. I find this a little confusing.

I'm wondering if I should start with a specific preset then toggle settings like "Pixel Threshold" from there.

The documentation isn't clear on what the difference between "best" and "fast" is, but I'm assuming the former is more accurate at the expense of more CPU cycles.

I imagine there is a similar relationship between low and high sensitivity.
