I am working on setting up a ZM system and I have all the software working. I am now working on getting the most performance out of my storage array. I currently have a 3.5TB RAID5 array. This is SATA 750G drives with hardware raid. While testing the setup I had the array setup as ReiserFS. From everything I have read ReiserFS has great performance with many small files. My concern over ReiserFS is that Hans is now in prison and looks to be remaining there for some time. ReiserFS fixes/updates may trail off quite a bit now.
At home I run XFS for my MythTV system and have had no complaints with it. The use case for Myth is different from ZM in that Myth deals with large files (2GB and up) while ZM is a collection of smaller files. Similar to what a mail store deals with.
Any thoughts from others regarding the best filesystem for a large RAID array are welcomed.
Thanks,
