hi
a want to buy a 8port pci-card for zoneminder.
after reading the docs/wiki, i know i should get a
card with 8 capture-ICs on it, to get decent framerate.
if there is only one captured input on every chip, i should get the same framerat as with a standalone
PCTV card. is this true?
here is a card with 8x 878A chipset
http://cgi.ebay.de/8-Kanal-240fps-RealT ... dZViewItem
and here one with 8x Philips 7130
http://cgi.ebay.de/8-Kanal-240fps-RealT ... dZViewItem
are there ony objections on one of this cards?

KMay or may not work. There is no way to know without testing. The second one looks like some kodacom clones I have seen, but still no way to know.

Still noone with experience?
Could buy a 4port videocard with 4x philips 7130 chipset from canada for around 40€ (should be around 55$) and that is very very cheap. Normally, we pay around 180-299€ for such a card.

Or does anyone know where to buy a card with min. 4 chips and resolution min. 640x480???

..just supports 320x240 pixels... i want to see 640x480 pixels
But i think i will spend 40€ for a phillips and if it works, i will let all people know that
...cause i found some helping hints in the ubuntuforums regarding this card.
5th August... got card... installed card... /dev/video0 appeared
no video avaiable
if i attach a camera on port 0 and i choose /dev/video0(0) i can see some strange colors... if i choose /dev/video0(1) i see jsut a blank screen.. think, that zoneminder/v4l recognizes the videocard but i would need some options to be set.
So, does anyone know how and where (somewhere in /etc/modprobe.d/?) to set the options permanently?
Kind regardes,

So.. meanwhile, i got a solution
Just added /etc/modprobe.d/saa7134.conf
options saa7134 card=60,60,60,60
and i got 4 cams working under xawtv with realtime-framerate with 640x480 pixels
Tomorrow, i will try it with Zoneminder (cause i crashed my system a little bit and i am not able to reinstall it completley) and if it works, i will place a description of this card with picture and details inside the "supported hardware list" ...or someone else could do that
sorry again for my crazy english
25th September 2009
Zoneminder is running with 4 cams and in relatime-framerate with 640x480 resolution
